Travelling with Bathroom Fan Running

this year ive been experimenting with the vent open while driving. i crack one of the smaller windows near the front of the trailer and when we arrive its nice and cool. I installed the maxx air cover this weekend for insurance. IT took longer to collect all the tools and get the ladder out than it did to install. super easy.

Side note:
I have the after marked cover, not the maxxair.
The covers typically have a little air gap under it. In heavy heavy rain water can run under the cover and get into the opening. It did not flow in of course, but the wind tended to splash it in a little bit.

My solution was to just seal off the front edge of the vent cover so water cannot pass under, but has to go around, this solved any water issues. I just used electrical tape, temporary as that is, but easier to deal with if the cover needs to come off than dealing with Lap sealant.

The only time the vent gets closed is when the AC or the heater is running inside.

I don’t think I’ve ever closed our bathroom vent...I don’t think running the fan is necessary with the wind/draft of driving, but I’ve often wondered how much air really moves if another vent isn’t also open. “Less stuffy” is a good way to describe it. Doesn’t Seem to make any difference in temp towing here in the desert heat.

Pretty interesting. I wonder what causes different results?
Might have something to do with length or shape?

I occasionally left both the vent above the front of the living/dining area and bathroom at the rear slightly open. Added Maxair over the front and Maxxair Turbo/Maxx over the rear bathroom hatch.

Hum... Just traveled almost 1700 miles from WA to MT and back. Had my bathroom vent open most of the way. From about an inch to several inches. Do not have a vent cover - yes, it is the flimsy type. No dust, nothing broken. Even drove down more than one dirt road. Guess I got lucky.

And I leave mine open when the trailer is stored. Only time I've seen anything in the trailer is when it was real smokey from local fires.

Have not had any of those fancy vent cover covers. Not actually certain of the purpose of a cover cover. Like wearing 2 pairs of underwear as an insurance policy?

I wouldn't worry about the integrity of the crank up vent cover if it's up while driving. Aside from old crusty brittle covers, that are one step away from breaking anyway, the typical vent covers don't get damaged by being left up in transit. At least not in the 20+ years I've been hauling trailers and campers around the country.

We close all vents and windows apon departure.
Yes, trailer gets warm but fortunately our trailer came equipped with AC.??
