I am not sure if this is any different in a HTT versus a TT. I leave my table in for traveling and have also put it down in the "bed" position for traveling. I have found the need to store items on the table when traveling, so that was the reasoning behind it.
I did one other thing I did not long after purchasing the TT and realizing we would use this as a bed from time to time. I measured the distance from the table to the floor when the bed was made, I then cut a piece of PVC pipe for each of the table leg mounts. I wanted something more support with no damage to the table or dinette benches. These pieces keep the table from sliding out either from vibration or turning.
