Replacing dinnette

We had a small 18ft Funfinder. Loved the rv and it was perfect except for the dinette. No storage underneath and consumed most of the small trailer. I took it out myself and replaced it with two small swivel rv style chairs. Worked great for us.

I don't have a before but here is an after. I covered the wheel well with a box cover and cut out the outlet and alarm that were previously there and fitted them into the wheel well cover.





I had room in our storage shed for the dinette. I offered it to the buyer when we sold the TT years later.

I wanted room for dog crates and more counter top space while parked... I love my kitchen gadgets and I just kept thinking I want the dogs to also have their own space... They are both crate trained at home... and love their crates ... I don't shut the doors anymore, but they know it's theirs... and we're just starting so I thought taking the crates will give them something familiar from home... and also make sure my 60 pound puppy won't eat the rv while I'm gone ... he has separation anxiety from time to time...

I actually haven't finished it... I went out of town a few days after that and won't be back till February 1st... I'm going to add in dog crates with a counter top... and a smaller table chairs set... for now when I get back...
I have hardly any counter space in the rv... and I love kitchen gadgets... I'm playing with different ideas at the moment but kept everything for possible resale down the road...

I'm not to concerned about weight, only because the dinette that I took out is very light and the dog crates and smaller table will be about the same in weight... I have thought about sliding the couch to the middle and adding the dog crates to each side of it... but even if I don't... the manufacturer wasn't to concerned or they wouldn't have designed it that way in the first place. So I should be fine....

I have done this also. It is very simple. The entire Dinette structure is simply screwed to the floor and walls. Your husband will easily find those screws by removing all the seating pillows and exposing the "bones" of the thing. If there are any of those little upholstery buttons that are fabric covered on any part it usually means there is a screw underneath.

Just unscrew the thing and keep the parts! These parts match the rest of your interior and are a great resource for making future repairs and using as trim. This dinette structure will probably be stapled together with very long "2 inch" staples. It will just pound apart with a rubber mallet.

I just did this last week. I will say if you have the "U" dinette seating. When I took out only the center box... it made the dinette 100% better... However, I went ahead and removed the entire dinette for a smaller table and dedicated space for dog crates...
I'm new to this sight but will try to add pictures.. I highly recommend removing at least the middle box first.. just screws was super easy.. I bought my rv this past November.. I hated to remove a perfectly good dinette but so glad I did..

One side of our dinette covered the furnace, no changing things there. The other side covers the pump, remove the seat added a chair and box over the pump.

I would like a narrower table but that will take a while.
