I looked ate the smartgauge but it didn't seem to do what I wanted it to do.
I guess it depends what you needs are. A SOC gauge wasn't what I was after. I wanted a way to see the amperage draw by various items and to also see how the solar system was performing.
I haven't had a need to use the manual so can't comment on its complexity, all the config I've needed to do has been through the app. I would not consider myself an advanced user but so far I've been happy with the Victron.
