Skipro3, agree you’ll have much better luck “of the beaten” path with those CT90s and it should be a blast! Have fun out there next month it is a fantastic place to visit!
Camper Jeff & Kelli, I don’t know Art but if he lives in Pahrump he must be a good guy! Ya know, I didn’t see any wind generation and don’t recall them discussing it. It would have been a great addition to the utility infrastructure however.
RVnRobin, Yea, I couldn’t remember the battery material and knew it wasn’t NICAD or Lead Acid. Thanks for the brain jell on that one. The Pelton wheel is one impressive turbine and ironically was invented in the 1870’s. The water to run that Pelton wheel at Scotty’s Castle came from a spring in Grapevine Canyon above the ranch and as I recall from the NPS tour guide supplied an avg of 200 gallons of water per minute – simply unreal in the desert. The NPS actually turn on a Castle Pelton wheel during the underground tour to run a small generator to power the large utility panel Albert Johnson designed and built (just a little demo setup).

I could have written an entire report on the Scotty’s Castle – it was quite impressive and simply unreal for its time…. not to mention the relationship and personality juxtaposition between Walter Scott (the con man) and Albert Johnson (a Chicago Insurance Magnate) the two main characters.
Grant, My next trip up there will include Titus Canyon most definitely! The reviews on that drive are quite impressive. At Mesquite Campground one of the neighbor campers had rode his dirt bike on it that day and said it was definitely a must do.
Jmtandem, Thanks.
Wayne, Anytime! My pleasure to share. I use Google Earth. It has phenomenal functionality to zoom and skew the views to get a great 3d viewpoint or just an overhead view. It also has the ability to measure between points, mark and label points of interest, and overlay many options, etc. And, once downloaded you can save all the points etc., to immediately zoom back etc. Overall a great program.
Starcraft69, Thanks!
Exhaustipated, Thanks. It is definitely worth the trip. Do it in the winter time when its cooler otherwise you’ll bake.
This was just our first trip. We will definitely return!!
