Very nice trip report. Death Valley National Park is in my top 5 favorite National Parks and a frequent winter destination.
I agree too, that Scotty's Castle is a wonderful place and a great place to explore and learn about a generation long past.
When you wrote about one of your campgrounds, that you stayed, and generator use and your thought of your own, but not needed. It should be noted that Texas Springs is strictly NOT a generator Campground. As you drive into the campground, there is a large sign that provides this prohibitive use rule. I am disappointed to learn that you were hearing generator use in this campground. The previous Campground Hosts were there for 25 years and they were very aggressive in enforcing this non generator rule. It would seem their replacement, their son, is not enforcing this as strictly.
