A Manufacturer here in Australia thought using a Ford E350 Van base would be the way to go being fairly cheap to purchase, but the vehicles were very lethargic. They were quickly got rid of.
2014 Ford will be offering the full-size Transit with the option of a turbo diesel or the ecoboost turbo v6. Assuming the transmissions are adjusted to make use of the extra low down torque of these engines I suspect they will be a lot nicer to drive.
