Hi everyone,
A big thank you for all your comments.
Sleepy: It certainly is a great part of the country to visit - Health allowing I recommend you try to get over that way with your camper some time.
Jamminalong: Thanks. Sally says I should rest occasionally - 'keep going' could be my motto.
Virgil_Diesel: It was also very nice to meet you at Expo.
USAFBILL: You're welcome. I'm fortunate in being in a position to travel like this, so I feel it a duty to share with friends, and those who aren't able to.
dadwolf2: Thanks. It was also great to meet you at Expo. I'm not sure I'd really call this trip 'overlanding' :). It was however very nice almost doing the opposite - travelling where everyone speaks your language, you know the rules of the road and there are no suspicious officials trying to take your money.
MacHof: That is very kind of you. We certainly found it so nice having the hospitality of both Hoppe and Btggraphix during our trip.
Mello Mike: It was also great meeting you at expo - pity we didn't get a chance to spend more time together.
GpnAz: Yes Mark, we definitely had a great time. Thanks for coming to Expo.
Lots of Stuff: That was certainly a trip you took. I forgot when we met that you were in the middle of your own adventure. Great meeting you.
Jefe 4x4: You are right, it seems that so much time has passed already since we met, but that was a great event. An XTC roundtable would be a good thing to have at Expo 2014. You and I are very knowledgable about vehicles, but many true overlanders are travellers first and have little knowledge of vehicles - they are a means to an end for them; hence many of the offroad classes at Expo weren't aimed at people like us but travellers who had chosen to use a 4x4, but now needed to know HOW to use it. Similarly they would probably be interested to hear about the option of a truck camper as an overland vehicle.
Silversand: Glad you enjoyed the report, but equally so sad that work commitments meant you couldn't make it to the show :(. We really felt for you. Anyway, we will meet again on another day, that is for sure.
Sheriffdoug: Glad you enjoyed watching our journey from afar.
NRALIFR: That is a wonderful part of the country. Heading down into NM then across to Tucson wouldn't be on most people's agendas, as it is slightly outside the obvious tourist routes. But I had wanted to do it for years and I am so glad we did. Good luck with the garage build.
Clarryhill: Yes, would have been nicer in our own truck, but as you say, what can you do? The rental was an interesting experience though.
1stgenfarmboy: Glad you're enjoying it Dar
River & Sand: Thanks. Sally and I really enjoyed meeting you two. Sally felt she really clicked talking to you two and could have talked for hours more.
btggraphix: We just can't keep away from deserts can we? We had a great time with the two of you. Thanks so much for your hospitality and I was really glad of the time we had together, both at Expo and at your house.
RobertRyan: Glad you're watching from afar. Seems ages ago since we met in that pub in Sydney :)
seldomseensmith: Eric, I'm so sorry you weren't able to make it to Expo; you were really missed. I personally was really hoping to meet you. Oh well, that is the way things go.
c.traveler2: You certainly have to be careful with the sun with all that gypsum sand reflecting it back. Actually I already had quite a sun tan (which I have been nursing for a couple of years now thanks to all my travel) and that seems to really protect me. That and not simply lying in it asleep like Sally does :S
Cheers,
Steve.
