We started looking at 5th wheels that had dry weights of ~9000lbs and GVWRs of 12,000lbs. Now some of the 5ers the wife likes have dry weights approaching 11,000lbs and 14,000 GVWR. We both work full time so we are mainly weekend warriors but we do usually take a week off and take a longer trip once a year. Still worried about the short 6 mile trips to work but I know a lot of people drive diesels that way. We try to use our current trailer once a month so the truck would get a workout at least monthly.
