Truck bed cover for towing 5er

Not good after installing my tri fold cover the 5ver will come within about 1/2 inch of hitting when pulling out of storage lot. may have to look for a hard top roll up.

I have the BakFlip installed on my F350 SRW, it has four section that flip up and are stored behind rear window when you need the full bed, or flip up two section on top of each other to access the 5er hitch to tow.

Another question: I bought the "Advanced Folding Cover - Classic" and I'm tring to install it. My question is: do I have to remove the bed rail covers before I install the folding cover?. Seems like I do, because the Bed Rail Cover has ridges along the length. The cover rails will mount and clamp down but not sure if the bed rail covers will cause me trouble later. I hate to remove those protective bed rail covers though.

Just purchased a roll-up cover for our Chevy 3500 long bed from Toneau Pro. Sits about an inch above the bed rails. I can easily roll it up myself to the rear window of the cab when towing so have full access to the entire bed, and roll it back down when unhitched. It latches at the end of the bed, so if you have a locking tailgate (which I don't) it will give you some protection from theft. Total cost was around $290 or so, and installed very easily with clamps (no drilling). There are a bunch of companies who make this type of cover, and I have no opinion to offer as to which might be better. What we have works for us, though, and with a price tag under $300, I figured I could replace it in 5 years or so if I should have problems with the mechanics, fading, etc.

I have a tri fold on my 2013 chevy and when folded up for towing there is a chance the trailer will hit the cover.

I have the Bak flip G2 install on my F350, just flip up the section to uncover the 5er hitch and bungi the others up out of the way while towing.

Access Lorado rollup works very well for us

I know you said you don't want a soft cover but if you went that way you could have an upholstery shop cut a tee in the center section. Then sew in a zipper and Velcro to open and close it.

Do you need a hard cover to protect items in the bed?

We have the RollBak G2 and it works great with our air hitch. Also has enough room under the case to fit our 45 gal auxillary fuel tank underneath. Closes and tail gate locks when the 5r isnt hooked up to keep golf clubs, tools safe.
