Truck Camper Capacities

I have been dry camping in a 33ft ClassA for the last 14 years. I have always been impressed at the nice spots TC's were able to camp in up in Alaska that I could not get into. To me water has always been my limiting factor to drycamping. I have 60 gals now which lasts me about a week. My question is what is the typical FW capacity on TC's and are there any models that have greater capacities? I am looking to replace my current MH and want to see if a TC would be an option. How does the storage compare to short ClassA's?

  • 23 in my pop up but I carry a couple 6 gallon potable water containers (available at Wally World) Water has never been an issue with us.
  • 65/51/32 fresh/grey/black

You can also brink along more water in portable containers if stock tanks aren't big enough. Load up as close to boondocking as you can.
  • 50gal in our little AF camper.
Like Keytag said, easy to pack extra water. We use one of the bladder tanks and pump from our wakeboard boat. Instant extra 40gal.
  • I had 45 gallons in basement Fleetwood and I think 35 gallons in Lance.
For us gray water tank was the first limit, but in summer camping I was making good with outside shower.
If fresh water is your main complain, I used marine Plastimo bladder tank for extra capacity in my conversion and kept it selling motorhome for potential use with TC.
Couple of ideas how to haul water are
    1. front cargo platform
    2. supercab rear floor.
  • 40 gallon in my Northstar Igloo but that goes a long way because we have a cassette toilet so no need for potable water to flush the toilet. The two of us have gone two weeks on 40 gallons with no problem.
  • 44 gallon fresh water in my Outfitter. (plus a few emergency bottles)
(also casette toilet -- with a hand held sprayer for 'kingons' - per Steve Urban)
  • Well, probably the easiest way would be to go to the truck camper's website.

I have the 2016 Arctic Fox 990 w/60 gal fresh water... but they could change each year, so the websites would give you the best info...

    I figure a week, 7-days to a Dump N Fill...
More if I'd make an effort, but typically 7-days..
Grey tank fills 1st, but it's only me, solo..
