Unless you are towing behind your TC over the mountains, you do not need a diesel. Even if you are that heavy and do it infrequently the gasoline engine will still be fine. However if make all your trips over larger elevation variances or are at high elevations, the diesel starts to make more sense. You may not recover the cost of a diesel purchase/upgrade, so it should be something that will provide enough benefit for the additional cost.
