The weight label is just that, a label and meaningless. Like a political bumper sticker. My old / sold Lane was 1500 over sticker. My new one (Palomino pop up) is 800 pounds over.
Burningman is absolutely right on, campers are all heavier than stated and trucks have less payload than stated.
Bad combo in my view.
Of course the answer is, buy more truck than you 'think' you need and come out about right in the end.
Buy less camper than you need too. Exactly what I did this time around. I'm happy and I'm not driving a barge either.
