truck campers require registration like a trailer camper?

To me it sounds so silly to have a tag on the truck and require a different tag on the slide-in truck camper haha... I have never had a slide-in truck camper but I assume this will hide the rear state tag on the truck... If this was the case for me I would probably move the truck tag to the trailer so it would be seen???

Here in Virginia I have permanent tag for the small utility trailer I have and also one for the fifth wheel trailer I have...
