Truck Camping in Seattle???????

OK

Getting encouragement to do Seattle during our next trip out to Washington state to see our son (Pullman area, eastern part of state.)

Myself, I'd rather head on up to Fort Casey State Park and see the sights there.

But, the wife wants to see Underground Seattle, the market area, stop by the original Starbucks and all that assorted stuff.

So, where does one stay with truck camper if indeed the Seattle city area is your intended destination?????

And, how about parking such a rig in or near these areas in Seattle???
  • I wouldn't park anywhere along the lightrail system for crimes sake. Perhaps at the airport if there is a lot attendant. You could park at or near Costco on 4th ave just south of Spokane street or the Home Depot at 1st and Lander. There is also street parking along any of the avenues heading into Seattle in that area south of the stadiums and north of Spokane street. Ride a bus the rest of the way into downtown from there. You may also be able to park at the lot on the north end of Centurylink field. There's construcion going on in the area butlots of RVers tailgate in that lot. It also puts you within a couple blocks distance from the underground tour. On the 4th ave side of the stadiums is China town. Wander through or eat lunch at Ujamaya store "check spelling". For Dim Sum lunch go to Sun Ya about noon for food on carts. In the pike market get a humbow at mee sum bakery and dessert at the russian bakery. There is a starbucks in the market.
  • Sound Transit light rail has a terminal in Pioneer Square.
Pioneer Square is where you find the Seattle Underground entrance.

You might be able to park somewhere along the transit line - maybe one of the lots around the Sea-Tac airport and take the rail into downtown.
Google a "sound transit parking" search - and good luck.
(The Seattle area is as friendly to RV camping as Los Angeles - NOT!)

    x2

even though having a tc is much easier for parking versus other rv types...im in now way interested in parking my camper downtown. parking can be a pain right in downtown. parking at the outskirts and bus or cab ride in would be my suggestion too.
  • You might be able to reserve a spot at either Dash Point SP 20 miles south from Seattle or Saltwater SP 15 miles south from Seattle. There is also the KOA which is also about 15 miles south from Seattle. Museum of Flight. The Canal Locks. Discovery Park near by. Space Needle. Pike Place Market. One of the most expensive tunnel projects in the world currently at a standstill for several more months with technical difficulties next to the two stadiums. Plenty of stuff to do.

On another forum, I gave you some links to local camping in the area.

Short stay... long stay? Travel each day in the rig or other option (rental car, public transpo...what were you thinking)?

There's a few RV grounds east of Seattle 15min. And maybe a couple of other options....

    I'd say short stay.

    And travel in the rig.

How is public transportation in the downtown area?????
