Truck Grill Guard

I am thinking about putting a grill guard on my f250 - weighs a little over 100lbs- more weight that I don't need. We travel in deer country and I need to protect that front end. Do you guys have one?
  • I have the RanchHand bumper/grill combo. It appeared to me to be the strongest for deer hit.

The sales guy said it would not fully protect from a deer hit. It could easily allow you to drive home instead of being towed to a body shop after a hit.

What moved me to buy one is someone on this forum did hit a deer about 9am. Center of the grill. Did about 5-6 thousand dollars worth of damage to the pickup. I don't need that when out of state and clear across the country.

  • If you are looking for protection a bolt on guard won't do too much. I have seen deer wrap those around front ends like straws. If you want real protection you will need a bumper like a Buckstop or Ranch hand. Those will truly protect your truck. With that also comes a weight price. They can be very heavy
