My F450 is definitely more maneuverable even though it is Crew Cab and my F350 was Super Cab. If it is a turnaround or road, the extra width of the extra tires doesn't matter.

Parking and going to any type of drive through including the Post Office is a different matter. At least, I've been able to get through the Post Office drive throughs so far! Parking is quite a bit harder due to the extra length and width.

If you don't want a DRW, or don't think you can handle a DRW, or think a DRW will be too much of an inconvenience, then you need to be willing to COMPROMISE on the camper. It's that simple.

Too many people seem to want to have their cake, and eat it to so to speak. They want the big triple slide 6000lb camper, but they don't want the DRW truck needed to haul it because they think they're going to be bouncing mailboxes off the fenders as they drive down the street.

Im new into tc, but when i bought my AF1140 (5000 pounds+ loaded) two months ago, i tried to carry it with the last owners 2011 f350 SRW.

Hes truck had a lot of upgrades, bilstein shocks, roadmaster sway bar, sulastic, stableloads and 19.5" tires.

IMO the srw truck was "able" to haul it with all those upgrades but i felt that i had to be carefull.

And then i tried to haul the same AF1140 with my buddys 2010 f350 drw and hes only upgrade on the entire truck is timbrens.

IMO the drw truck was "awesome" to haul it, no sway or body roll at all.

So i bought a brand new DRW and its a real pleasure to drive it, i dont had that kind of pleasure while hauling it with the SRW

Have to decide which function you want it to be ideal for. Dually is a non issue in the snow, save for select situations. The right tires and weight in the bed negate most of those issues as well though.
With a srw you'll be limited from the biggest campers for sure and the 2 ton variants will still feel better on a dually but are safe on a properly equipped Srw.

I haul a 4000lb plus camper on a short bed srw and have done so for a while including X country trips, drive to AK and a lot of mountain driving. I would not turn down a dually, but for the seemingly few days a year the truck actually hails a camper, I'm fine with what I got. ANY bigger though and I'd have a truck with 4 back tires though.

We have a crew cab dually. To me the length is more of a factor than the width as far as urban driving. If you are already going with a long bed truck and want to load it with a full size camper I would (and did) go with a dually.

Snow ? what is that? we like warm.

If you stick with an 8 lug truck your choice of tires is almost identical whether SRW or DRW.

It's only when you jump up to the 10 lug setups that your choices in a traction tire become fairly limited.

When I purchased my '04, it was in need of tires. I read reviews and differen forums for several months. It did not take long for me to conclude there are as many experts as there are tires. Every tire is great and every tire is junk. I finally decided to consider tires with the least amount of complaints. Note, the least amount of complaints. I finally bought the tire below. I have had them for about a year, driving on dry roads and wet roads with my 19 ft 5th wheel and 4000 lb TC as well as no load. I have found no issues at all. I have absolutely no road noise due to the tread design. If they handle this well in mud and snow and go 60000 miles, I will be pretty happy.
