- RetiredRealtorRExplorerSo, Motor Trend felt that it would be a good idea to name a truck that you can't even begin to get until March of 2022, and that has a base buy-in of $67.500+??
What's the track record of previous Rivian vehicles?
What's the track record of the automotive manufacturing processes of this company?
Sorry, but it would have made MUCH more sense to name more of a 'mainstream' vehicle (pun intended, if you know Rivian history) such as the Ford Maverick, rather than something that costs over 3 times the money, and you can't even get your hands on yet.
But, in the past, MT has named as Car of the Year such box office blockbuster hits as the Chevrolet Corvair, Chevrolet Vega, Chevy Monza 2+2, Chevrolet Citation, Chrysler K cars, Renault Alliance, .... well, you get the drift.
And this year (fanfare, please) the Lucid Air. Nearly 80 grand as a buy-in certainly puts it within reach of plenty of people, eh? Well, I'm definitely paying a visit to my Lucid dealer this afternoon to check them out ... once I do my due diligence and find out how Lucid's of the past have held up. Sarcastic? No. Food for thought? Definitely.
I digress. I'm done :C - aftermathExplorer III
