The F-150 mileages quoted seem about right. My Silverado 1500 would top out at slightly over 30 mpg at a steady 55 mph and plunge to the low teens when towing. Computers are good for computing fuel mileage as well as posting (Mis)information.
I don't need any misinformation about GM 5.3's... I've owned 3 of them over the years. The last was an 08 GMC. It got slightly worse mileage than my eco, even though it was 600 lb lighter, car mirrors, several inches shorter and couldn't handle a trailer.
The computer on the eco is always within 3% while the GM's were always optimistic by up to 8%.
I also never saw 30mpg with a 4x4 5.3, even at 45mph. The eco has a better chance at that. - TomG2ExplorerThe F-150 mileages quoted seem about right. - Buck50HDExplorerJust pulled a 2 place trailer with 2 sleds for 500 miles and averaged 15 MPG @ 65MPH. I was traveling with a 2010 5.4 pulling 2 sleds and he got the same mileage, within a tenth or two. Total weight on both rigs was probably around 8500-9k lb with 6 tires on the ground plus some extra drag and still got better mileage than an empty gas 3/4 ton.
It's not a prius but hangs with the 6.2 without sacrificing fuel economy. Plus, you can hypermile it like a standard V6 if you don't mind taking it easy. - OH48LtExplorerHaving had my Ecoboost for over 3 years now and watching the fuel mileage closely, I can say that the fuel mileage is dependent on several factors. Fuel octane, whether its summer fuel or winter fuel, ambient temperature, pulling any weight, and driving technique all have noticeable effects on fuel mileage in regards to the Ecoboost engine. I get from 10 to 27+ mpg with my Eco. GENERALLY, in warm weather I get 18+ in normal combined driving, and in winter, its around 15. That winter fuel and lower temps make a big difference. Highway mileage is very dependent on speed. At <60 mph, I can get 27, but that is unusual. Normal there is around 24 with 87 octane. From 60-65, its 22 barely. 70 or over its about 20 -20.5. I did one run where I kept 80-90 mph for quite a while, and was rewarded with 14 mpg, but I wasn't very steady on the go-pedal.
Towed my 25' travel trailer for 3 weeks from Ohio to Arizona and back last September, averaged 11.1 mpg over the 4300+ miles. That was going about 63-65 mph most of the way. About the same towing as my 2005 F250 6.0 diesel got.
If those magazine guys (who are writers, not professional drivers) got only 14 mpg, they were wailing on it. Hard not to with all that power and low end torque. - hone_eagleExplorer

Quik call the EPA and let them know
Ford is a dishonest skulking lying company and must be disbanded immediately :R - W_E_BGoodExplorerHey folks, instead of continuing the rock-throwing, chest-puffing, "oh-YA, Oh-YA" responses, try checking-out fuelly.com site. These are real-world people who join the program and report real-world numbers for their vehicle's mileage, and just about every conceivable vehicle is there too. The link is for the Ford F-150, you can go into it further for more individualized reporting.
Enjoy. Regards, BGood - catfishmontanaExplorer

You sure do a lot of fishing. - MARK_VANDERBENTExplorerNot worried just seems ford likes to lure in customers with false mpg figures.
- Kevin_O_Explorer32,000 miles so far on my 2011 with just over 10,000 of those miles towing.I have a 14.2mpg average with a heavy right foot. For me when the Ecoboost first came out I certainly didn't head down to the dealer for a test drive with the advertised mpg in mind. It was the 430lb/ft of torque at 2500 rpms!!! Almost 3yrs of ownership and it tows my trailer like a champ, drives as comfortable as a car, gets in and out of parking spots easily and fits perfect in my garage. I couldn't be happier! :)
If your that worried about getting good gas mileage buy a Prius! - TargaExplorer14.7 on the 6.4 Hemi? I like that.
