1810 lb dry weight TC that size may = 2600-2800 lbs by the time its loaded. Now add maybe another 200 lbs of necessary junk we add to our trucks which some will be over the trucks rear axle....now its close to 3000 lbs in the bed.

GM trucks that model with the Dmax/A has a 6200 rawr and may can weigh in the 2700-2900 lb range = approx 3300-3400 lbs for a payload in the bed. You have the truck so gets some front and rear axle weights so you know how much load the trucks axles/tires and wheels are carrying.
The RAWR includes axle/tire/wheel and rear suspension. The axle is the same 11.5" AAM as 3500 srw and drw GM trucks so no problems their. Higher rated wheels/tires and after market rear suspension will fix you up if the rear sags more than you like.

Looks like a good match for that model 2500 GM truck.

I think you should still get an accurate weight of your truck. Doesn't cost much, and it's good to know.

My 2016 SRW F350 came with the towing package and plow prepped. 6.2 gas 4x4 auto. 8 ft. bed.
Added Stablelifts and air bags. Carries a Northern Lite RR dry bath.
I also added 19.5" Rickson Truck Wheels DOT Rated 5000lbs with Continental Hybrid load range H tires.
Still needs a heavy rear anti-sway bar.

don't plan to come up to BC if you are over GVW or axle rating because it is the law there. Admittedly it is rare to get checked.

Karl, here's the deal. Half the folks here will say you're fine and likely have done that much or worse with their trucks and / or understand a bit more than the published class/gvw rating. Then it boils down to how much you're willing to spend on mods to make it haul well and safe vs a turn key dually.

Others are strictly by the book and will allude to the killing a busload of orphans thing if you even try. Must all be Nationwide insurance agents or something......

The middle
Of the road answer is you CAN do it safely, But you'll need to equip the truck with a few things and you need to prepare that it will not handle nearly as well as a dually, and your comfort level for a big white whale humping your little truck will come into play! And that assuming your truck is good running and well maintained because you're using up most of its original capability.

Btw if it's a long bed, better than a short bed.

I've had the truck you have and I also haul a 4000lb. Camper on a short bed 3/4 ton currently.
I would, with your truck, knowing the axle rating, ditch the 16" wheels if you still have them in favor of 18 or 20" OE wheels (GM or Dodge) that you can easily get some 3700-4000lb tires for or for more confidence find some 19.5s.
Sway bar, make or buy some lower stable loads and add springs or air bags to suit.
With that, I'd be confident.

Weird, guy who bought my AF 860 pulled away with it on the same truck as the OPs. Maybe it was an 03 or 04 model, but same rig.
What you meant to say is that he will be over his GVW rating, not that it can't be done ...and safely.

back in 01 2500's were 8800 GVWR, SRW 3500's were more. You could ask on this forum what truck weights are with your cab configuration. subtract the difference for your payload. Then check with owners here what the best value is for suspension mods.
