True weight of Arctic Fox 811


I have a 2011 Ford F350 FX4 SRW SD CC. This is scale weight with nothing but 3 passengers (400 lbs). This gave me a pretty good idea of what the truck weighed before anything in it. I'd say truck with full fuel tank (Titan extended tank is 48 gallons vs stock tank of 26 gallons), is close to 8080 Lbs.


After picking up the Arctic Fox 811, we went straight to the CAT scale again. This is what we weighed. Two passengers in cab (300 lbs). Dry camper is 4000 lbs.


Then, added gear, 2/3 fresh water, food, 6 passengers, full fuel tank, this is what we weighed.

Have taken it on a couple local trips and it drives fine. Handles the steep mountain pass by our home with no problem. I placed the air bags, rear Hellwig anti-sway bar before the camper was purchased, so I can't make before and after comparison there. However, I got the 19.5 wheels and tires right after we bought the camper and I can tell you that upgrade did help a lot. Arctic Fox 811 camper weight sticker is deceiving because you don't have any accurate numbers to go off of.


This was the factory sticker on this camper:It says it weighs 3293 lbs with 51 gallons of water, before the options added. I figure the wet camper weight is around 4300 lbs. not including 6 passengers at 725 lbs for total rig weight at 13,120 lbs.

    Welcome to the forum, Eric. You have a great looking combo and you did a great job weighing everything, before and after. Your weights confirm the common practice of adding 1,000 lbs to the wet weight of your camper to obtain a more accurate estimate your camper's real weight.

    Just out of curiosity, what is the GVWR of your F-350? My Ram 3500,4x4,SRW with the 6.7L CTD has a GVWR of 11,700 lbs.

    GVWR is 10,000 lbs. Front GAWR 6000 lbs, Rear GAWR 7000 lbs (with stock tires and wheels). I did a lot of research on this forum before buying the camper and did the truck modifications based upon others' experiences and recommendations. Having done that, I have no concerns with driving the rig and am looking forward to a lot of fun with the family and going to some great destinations! By the way, your Mellomike website has been very informative, and I have enjoyed reading your blog posts.

    Thanks, Eric. Glad you have enjoyed it. Enjoy the new rig. I'm sure your family will love it. Where are you taking it first? I've taken my TTs and TC all over the great state of Utah. It's one of my favorite playgrounds.

    AF for some reason only gives the weight of the camper without the mandatory "Value Pack" which adds 595# to the campers dry weight. So instead of starting with the dry weight of 2873# that they state it is really 3468#. (2873# + 595 = 3486#) Then you add batteries, propane and any other options that are not included in the Value Pack. I noticed you have AC which is an option. Then add water at 8.35# per gallon and the weight adds up fast. AF has always been known for not giving the true weight but if you go through their brochure closely they do show the additional 595# on the value pack which includes the following:

    Fox Value Pack is a mandatory option
    bundle that includes all of the
    following high value features:
    Rear Awning
    Sliding Battery Tray
    2500 # Capacity Electric Jacks
    Dual 30 lb. LP Tanks
    Exterior “Marine Speakers”

    Correct........ most folks seem to always miss that mandatory value package weight.

    I knew about the "mandatory option" package weight before buying, but wondered why they would post the factory weight on the camper in this fashion. Seems like a "one size fits all" sticker. I would prefer the sticker to be specific to that particular unit as it rolls off the assembly line. This sticker would accurately reflect the weight of each camper individually depending on what options it has. Therefore, the potential buyer will not have to have a degree in accounting to itemize every option with it's respective weight to get to the bottom line number. Anyway, no regrets on our purchase. Looking forward to logging a ton of miles enjoying the camper with the kids. Heading to the Redwood Forests and the Oregon Coast in a couple weeks. Can't wait!

    Your weights seem similar to mine. Heavy. Wife had to have a slide.

    Mine can get that heavy when hitched up to the trailer and full of water. There are only two of us and we do not have a crew cab or extended fuel tank.

    That is a BEAUTIFUL RIG

    But all the talk about weight makes me think I may want to go with the SB Ram Dually. It seems the ride may be better and I don't have to spend the money for the 19.5's (which I had and didn't like the ride empty on a former truck)

    Does anyone have this combo with the Ram SB dually?
