- HannibalExplorerI like to see videos like that. It reminds me how expensive stupid can be. Glad he appears to be ok.

I agree. Certainly if this was an F-150 in the video, several people would have said "you can never have too much truck", etc. That trailer did not look very large.
Either way, I'm glad that everything landed upright and the tow vehicle did not roll over. Probably some very frightened people in the F250. But, if the speed estimate of 78 mph is correct, I think that could have been a factor. I have recovered from significant swaying using the brake controller, but I have never towed a trailer at 78 mph. - 45RicochetExplorerThat was my first thought also, what happen to the chains? 78 on that highway can get you in trouble real fast.

I wonder how fast he was going. He passed that trucker pretty quickly.
A guy over in the TT forum (RCMAN46) who lives in the area worked out how far the markers are spaced apart. He then used this to calculate the speed of each vehicle. He calculated that the Semi was going 69.9 and the F250 was going 78.
Then I guess Darwin is alive and well! At least the road was relatively empty and he didn't hit anyone. - agesilausExplorer III

Not a bumper puller so not 100% familiar with the setups but I thought there were safety chains to prevent separation of the trailer from the truck. I have chains on my 20' trailer for my tractor. What are they for then?
Chains might catch a trailer that just became detached from the truck, say the ball was not locked in the hitch. But for a violent separation like this they probably broke. - HalmfamilyExplorerNot a bumper puller so not 100% familiar with the setups but I thought there were safety chains to prevent separation of the trailer from the truck. - 3oaksExplorerFlying bombs? I didn't see any bombs explode.

All speculation as to what was the initial cause of the accident without knowing all the FACTS. - 214skierExplorerDid you notice the two propane tanks on the TT bumper that were loose and sliding around? Nice to have two bombs flying loose when that rig rolled.
- rhagfoExplorer IIIMaybe the fact he passed the semi and the air rush around the front of didn't help! Driving too fast.
