When hasn't there been a Middle East situation? I remember when gas was approaching $2.50 a gal. I was thinking our camping travels are going to end or be severely limited. And that was when we had a PUP. Well, we're still camping. We've done the cross country thing. Lots of fun but expensive. The good news is that you don't have to travel far to enjoy your trailer. You make it as expensive as you want it to be. Or as cheap. Most of our trips are now just a few hours away. We're planning a farther trek for next summer and even that will be within a day's drive. Even if it were $5 a gal, we just view it as part of the expenses of the trip. Maybe spend a little less elsewhere.
Let me give an example. If I go on a 500 mile trip and my rig gets 10 mpg towing, at $3.50 a gal it'll cost me $350 in gas. At $5 a gal it'll cost me $500. Would you stay home to save $150? I wouldn't.
The other thing to factor in is that all other forms of travel get more expensive also. RVing isn't cheap, but neither is flying to a resort.
