Trailer weighs over half the weight of the tow vehicle, which pulls it just fine. Sheer momentum of that weight behind me couldn't be overcome by the brakes on the tug. I'm a teeny weenie tower by most standards, but I guess the same laws of physics apply to me as to much bigger rigs.
Our F350 with us in it weighs 8,400 lbs (wow, that blows my mind. My car, a 2013 Mustang weighs 3,600 lbs). The trailer weighs 7,000 lbs loaded. The truck has a MGVWR of 11,500 lbs. There is no way that brakes designed to stop 11,500 will perform very well with 15,400 lbs of vehicle resisting the stop. I can say that stopping the trailer with the F150 was stressful for me. Stopping distance was very very long. I think the new combination will be better, but nowhere near how the truck stops without the TT.
