The whole idea that the trailer brakes stop the trailer an the truck brakes ls stop the truck is a fallacy. Both systems work in conjunction and the truck brakes play a major role in stopping the trailer.
My dually will stop a TT noticeably better than any SRW truck. By the same token a MDT will stop better than my dually.
