Having owned logging truck's I converted in the winter to haul grain and lumber, I would never say a gas engine is going to pull like a diesel..... But the Ford f-150 does offer over 400 horsepower and over 400 ft pounds of torque.
The 1/2 ton label sure gets people riled up even if it has more horsepower/more payload/the same or better gvwr than some 3/4 tons not to mention the better ride.
I hope you enjoy your new rig, sounds like a nice one.
You're right. Comparing a 3/4 diesel to a 1/2 gasser isn't a fair comparison at all, and I certainly didn't mean to dog anybody's truck. Well...I dog my cousin about his F-150 all the time, but that's another story. :B
I'm just one of those guys that likes a little cushion. This truck we bought, by all accounts, is a pulling beast but we stopped looking at fifth wheels when we realized everything we liked was going to put us right at or over the truck's payload. I'm sure I could have gotten by with it, but I would have never been comfortable about it...that's just me. Not everybody is like that, and that's ok. I guess the older I get, the less willing I am to take unnecessary risks.
