I guess I m not getting the hate/mis-understanding for the label of a 1/2 ton truck ,F-150 to be specific. The F-150,equipped properly, has more payload than some F-250's (3050 lbs)...It also has a max tow slightly above 11,000 pounds, again equipped properly...This all backed by Ford motors warranty.
Some talk about the lack of power in the hills, well,I live in the hills of central Idaho..My son has a 2500 HD Chevy with a 6.0 and mine is a 5.4 Ford...The power is virtually the same with torque in the Fords favor and rated horsepower being the exact same. How can the 2500 HD tow better in the hills?...It doesn't...
Reguardless of the label of 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton, each truck is an individual. Not all 1/2 labeled trucks are the same and not all 3/4 ton trucks are the same either and not all 3/4 ton trucks have higher payloads than all 1/2 ton trucks nor do they have more power than all 1/2 ton rated trucks and some 3/4 ton trucks don't have more GVWR than some 1/2 ton trucks.
Just not getting the 1/2 ton is not a capable tow vehicle for heavier trailers within its rating.
