I think we can pretty much agree that overloading a vehicle can be risky but as to how much “safety factor” is enough is often a matter of opinion.
If my truck is loaded to 60% of its capacity and my trailer is loaded to 70% of its capacity, with the combination about 80% of the recommended combined vehicle capacity; is that safety factor large enough? Or, do I spend the bigger bucks and buy the gonzo super-duper truck and gain a third more safety factor.
Obviously some would say it is a waste of money and you will suffer comfort, convenience and increased maintenance costs. Other will feel it is cheap insurance.
I suppose it is up to each person to examine the advantages and disadvantages of each approach and adapt it to their comfort zone.
