Changed, but not all that much. The typical good riding economical half ton pickup on the dealer lots are usually found with less than 1,400 pounds of available payload after a couple of passengers and some junk in the bed is taken into consideration. The typical gas 3/4 ton will have about twice that much. The 5.4 was a dog when towing over 6,000 pounds and I had three of them.
