Possibly so, but I have know idea living where I live. Mine is a 2008 4x4 Supercrew with a 9300 lb max tow rating and 1700 lb payload,I believe without looking at the payload specs.
My only point is that anything short of the max tow rating is fair game for a properly equipped f-150. The 5.4 has plenty of power for the hills and cruising.
Not trying to be a snob as I have been a 3/4 ton guy most of my life hauling truck campers/large travel trailers and fifth wheels to live in while working, with 454's and 460's and my last 390.I even pulled an old 40 ft mobil home around with the 454 in a beafed up 3/4 ton GMC.…..
Just saying the new Ford f-150 is everything the old Ford f-250
was, plus some. Ford even recognized the lacking in there old 3/4 tons with large truck campers and came out with the camper special version beefed up.
To many people including myself only remember the old 1/2 tons which were not camper haulers or trailer towers... Now it has changed as well as the 3/4 tons which are more like the old 1 tons...... Times have changed big time in rv tow vehicles...
Not true at all.
My 2013 F250 Supercab short bed 4x2 with 6.2 has a cargo capacity of get this.. 3400 lbs.
A standard cab F250 with 6.2 with long bed should be better than mine in cargo capacity..
Everyone likes to fool themselves into believing a modern day 1/2 ton is the same or better than a 3/4 ton.. Simply not true, the new F250s have not stood still, they have been beefed up even more and are far, far better than a F150 is for handling large heavy loads.
Even to day there is till a large difference in the weight between a F150 and a F250, somewhere around 1100 lbs. That extra weight is in the frame, suspension, brakes, axles and such.
Folks tend to shy away from F250 because of price and gas mileage, too bad you let your wallet speak for you, you are missing out on a better handling towing machine.
F250 price difference is what $1000?
With a F250 with trailers 7K or less you can dump your WD, thats what $600(and 150 lbs) of hardware which doesn't need to be bought, stored or adjusted. So, removing WD out of the equation a F250 is now only $400 more expensive than a F150.
Yeah I know, blasphemy you say, it is true, WD is all about allowing a lesser vehicle pull a bigger and heavier trailer than it normally would be able to. In essence WD is a BANDAID FOR WEAKER VEHICLES and nothing more.
To make matters worse, add in the price of a F150 equipped with max tow and Eco boost and you will find yourself paying MORE for that F150 than a F250.
False economy thinking that a F250 is way out of your price range.
At one time I had a 97 LIGHT DUTY F250, that was the year they introduced the new body style F150 and had TWO F250 versions with the Super Duty using the old body style.
My 97 F250 used the F150 frame and body but had slightly heavier suspension and axles. Since it was 4x2 it had a CAR FRONT END, YES THATS RIGHT, FULL A FRAME CAR SUSPENSION. That truck at me out of house and home in front end parts. Brakes were the first to go at 50K miles, then ball joints at 60K, then FULL A FRAME BUSHINGS at 90K. Then at 100K another set of brakes and shocks.
At 135K the ABS light came on and I had it, by 140K the truck was traded in for a new 2003 F250 Super Duty.
The 2003 F250 weighs in at 1000 lbs heavier than the 97 light duty F250...
I haven't looked back and would not consider another F150..
I still have the 2003, it now has 200K miles on the clock with original shocks only one set of brakes and one set of ball joints... So far the best truck I have owned :B .
