F250s don't necessarily have the payload capacity everyone thinks it does. After going to a scale with our F250 (with just driver and full tank of gas) there's only 1800 lbs of available payload against versus the 2700 lbs the door pillar sticker says. I was quite surprised. It's because we have factory options - 4x4, super cab, 8' box and some smaller items, plus a 200-ish lb canopy. Still leaves us plenty after allowing for our TT tongue wt. If we had a 1/2T with the same options, I don't think there would much left for a TT.
