I've read that some won't touch a 3/4 ton because the ride is too harsh. I don't find our F250 harsh at all. It feels so much more solid and stable than our old F150. With our F150, even with new HD Bilstein shocks, it was a handful in strong gusty winds. The F250 is rock solid in comparison.
I've also read that some say an F350 isn't structurally and mechanically a whole lot different than an F250 so for the minor price increase, you might as well just go to an F350.
It's interesting how the big 3 truck makers are all flogging their outrageous pulling capacities in 1/2 tons while payload capacity doesn't get mentioned. As someone said, by the time you've paid for the upgrades to get the HD and max. tow options, you'd be better off just getting a 3/4 ton.
I watched an episode of Gold Rush the other day and Parker Schnabel up in the Klondike had to move a humongous wash plant with a low boy trailer. The semi got stuck on a hill. One of the guys came along with his Ford truck, hooked up to it and pulled it up the hill to save the day. Come on, really? Great ad for Ford but they had the front emblem fuzzed out. You could still clearly tell it was a Ford.
