As long as your truck is within its rated specs, and well maintained, then I see no reason why not to use a 1/2 ton, or if your TT is small enough even one for the older 1/4 tons like a CJ/TJ/YJ Jeep or earlier Toyota pickup.
Many have subsribed to the bigger is better theory when thy go out and buy a trailer, why not do the same when you buy a truck?
If my load was even remotely close to my trucks limits I would just get the larger truck, heaven forbid that I should hurt someone, simply because I did not outfit my TV properly.

Barney got it right, there is nothing in your post to make anyone hate you. Operating any machine within it (and your) limitations is always a good idea.
