Lots of good information and some misinformation here. I prefer a tow vehicle whose brakes, transmission, etc. are designed for handling 9,300 pounds over one designed for 7,500 pounds. Yes, even when either one is used to tow 7,000 pounds. In most cases, that requires a 3/4 or heavier pickup.
