On Ford's website (build a F-150 section): 2WD Supercrew
5.0L 5.5ft bed w/3.73 max payload 1790 max towing 10K
5.0L 6.5ft bed w/3.73 max payload 2620 max towing 9.5K
F-250:
6.2L 6.75ft bed w/3.73 max payload 3630 max towing 12.5K
I'm in the same predicament as you with regards to the longevity of the Ecoboost, intrigued yet very, very gun-shy. I have a buddy with the Tundra crew cab with the big V-8. He says it gets about 12-13mpg in town, about 16-17 mpg highway unloaded and around 10mpg pulling his boat. While Toyota does make a good truck, their MPG leaves ALOT to be desired.
With the MPG that the Toyota gets, I would think that the F-250 with the 6.2L gas engine would be comparable...but you would be getting alot more towing and payload capacity than either of the 1/2 ton trucks can offer.
