That's pretty much it. And yes, it's easy, no special tools. Change your serpentine belt(s). Change your transmission fluid too (every 50k), but use Dex VI, not the Dex III that the '02s called for. Dex VI is backward comparable and is a synthetic blend, run much cooler. If you have 4WD, change your transfer case fluid (also every 50k), and front and rear differential fluid (every 30k).
.............Only A GM dealer wanting to charge those ridiculous fee's for basic service would put Dex6 into an Allison ! TES 295 , Transcynd Fluid from Allison is THE correct choice for those that want to get the max life out of their Allison ! And , No ONE flushes their Allison Unless it is going to be rebuilt , but Those Idiot GM dealers will gladly flush every Allison they can if given a chance . , jf
