My 1st ever RV salesman told he he was once at a truck stop and witnessed an RV go up in flames- propane was on, lady ran some hot water in the RV while her husband was filling up. Spark from the h2o tank firing up set the whole thing up in flames. That story stuck with me and I never travel with my propane on. Ive never had an issue with food in my fridge or freezer getting warm and my trips are usually all under 7 hours mostly in the 2-3 hour range.
You must have a great fridge, an hour or so without my fridge running and it's starting to warm up. The inside of the trailer is so hut in the sun that the fridge warms quickly. If I'm only traveling for an hour or two I will use frozen water bottles inside the fridge to keep it cool, but I will run propane if longer then 2 hours. I'm not afraid of the safety of running propane, I just don't like to waste it since it costs so much money.
