Turnbuckles

I have 2001 F350 XLT long bed, crew cab diesel. My unit will be a 2004 Lance 1121.

Do I need to make any other modifications to the truck?

Also, do I need to put a rubber mat in the bed?

I am getting the torklift tiedown on both front and rear. My question, can I use torklift fastgun turnbuckles on front and happy jack quick connect turnbuckles on the rear or visi-versa?

Thanks for helping the newbie with all the questions.

Is the F350 srw or drw , makes a difference . Some tiedowns are front spring loaded and rears have rubber bumper so they are not interchangeable . As far as the quick load handles I don't think it matters .

    It is a dullay.

  • Don't know if you can find one for 2001, but I bought factory mat for my 2017 F350 and for $150 consider it great value. My camper has steel edges with sticking screws, that I don't think I would like rubbing my bed, beside possibility of truck sliding on the bed.
Suspension modification is whole other story.
I did not worry about it till I put my camper on and turn out that at 5600 lb my camper is doing fine with factory suspension as long as I keep rear holding tanks empty.
Amazing how much 200lb of waste under camper rear can change in driving stability.
  • Might want to install airbags.

A mat is not necessary, but can we used. But why? It adds weight.

Yes u can mix takedown systems, but again why?
