Nope. Omni can even be designed with gain. That said I suspect there is an amplifier inside that round head. Should be close to the performance of the Jack antenna. Only disadvantage is being so low to the roof.

Yes - per the below specs it is amplified. I'm assuming this antenna is doing double duty as the FM radio antenna for the unit. If that's the case and it works, that's one less hole in the roof!
