we don't have the extreme heat or cold so my experience may not mirror those in hot or cold climates. On my 2004 duramax I replaced the batteries in 2013 with a pair of OEM batteries. The truck went to our son and he still has the batteries in it.
I have a 97 mercedes I got from my brother and the OEM battery was replaced in 2008 and the OEM replacement is still going strong but I suspect I may need to replace it in a year or so.
I have a 97 mercedes roadster I bought used with full service records. The OEM battery was replaced in 2009 and I replaced that one with an OEM just this last year.
Now back in the 1970's I was lucky to get 5 years out of a battery.
