I fixed my TV to a piece of Plywood also.
A little stain and it's the same color as the flimsy wood was.

IIRC, my new LED 32" flatscreen weighs 8 lbs. I used a tilting swivel screen mount like this. The mount is secured into a 5/8" piece of plywood that is attached to the wall and studs of the trailer.

My enclosure is a box in wall between bedroom and living room that is 4" deep, and swivels 180* to allow viewing from either room. So, I need to stay both shallow and lightweight. Box is about 35" wide by 20" tall.

The best thing to do is to build a secure backing mount for a swing arm. This might mean you have to have a floor board secured, and then another bracket at 90 degrees so you have a vertical piece to put some screws into. Once you have the back mount solidly connected to the walls and joists then you can get a quality swing bracket to put your TV on. New TV's are so light, just tie it down when you travel and the mounting platform will not come loose.
