TV that fits in my garage? Does such a thing exist?

I just have a standard subdivision garage. All I know is my Honda Odyssey is 202.1" long, and it fits just fine, with extra room.

I am looking for a TV that fits in my garage. The TV I buy will determine which TT I can buy.

Is there a website out there that helps you figure out not only the towing capacity of your TV, but also the exterior length? Or do I have to go to the manufacturer's site for each and every vehicle?

Surely I'm not the only one who wants to park my TV in my garage...

Thanks for any help you can provide! :)

  • +1 on height issue. Standard doors will NOT accept the new 4X4's. Even some two wheel drives are tight on height.
  • My first thought....tape measure!

Take said tape measure and measure your garage and opening. Then go to a few dealerships with the tape measure and get your precise information.
  • Well, I built my house in 89....

Much to my wifes dismay, I redesigned the blueprints based on my TV. I eliminated the center post with a VERY expensive big honkin beam, and then I increased the width by 2 feet and the length by 6 feet, all so that my TV would fit nicely in there with room to get out of the thing and walk around it. And I dropped my driveway a foot and put a taller garage door in so the truck would fit with my rack on it.

That was all fine and dandy, until I retired the old truck and bought a 3500 dually. It sat higher, and won't fit under the garage door, so here I am again, parked outside......

Seriously thinking of jack hammering up my garage floor and the driveway and digging it down......
  • You need to take a tape measure and get us the size of your garage if you want true guidance here...'standard' varies a ton-my Excursion fits in a garage-albeit tight!
  • consumer reports , April Auto Issue lists the dimensions , available engines , and so forth .
A full size pickup Regular Cab , Short Box is 206 inches long .
A full size pickup ExtraCab , Short Box is 229 inches long .
  • Dude. He's talking about his house garage.

OP, You will prolly need to check the manufacturers for the total length of their vehicles. But "most" TVs with any towing capacity, will be longer than a minivan. But will more than likely fit length wise

But you need to also check how high your door is as well. Many 4x4 trucks or SUVs will not go under many residential garage doors.
  • Garages come in different lengths. The ramp and garage of every toy hauler (travel trailer, 5th wheel, Class A and Class C) has a load capacity. My garage has a 2,000 pound (1 ton) load capacity. The Smart car and Mini Cooper are very popular vehicles but may not provide the comfprt and leg room you desire. Ability to exit the vehicle once inside the garage is also a major concern. Some people carry gas powered "street legal" Golf Carts.
  • There's a lot of dimensional info at consumerreports.org but I can't remember if it has tow ratings.
