I have been told by DW to upgrade our current tow truck. She has give me $15,000 and trade in of the old TV. I love my chevy gasser but need some leather seats and heated seats for DW. I am looking for something (Chevy, GMC, Ford, Dodge) 2010 or newer with less than 60,000 miles 3/4 ton or 1 ton with goose neck hitch in back for my companion hitch. What would you buy? Need to know about Chevy 6.6L and prefer gas.

I have a feeling you're not in the financial ball park. I did a quick internet search for Chevy Silverado, landed on a couple web sites. Found this on one of them. This is an average cost of the Silverado. When looking at their site, it has trucks from all over the country. I think these figures are pretty average too. Your DW needs to loosen the purse strings to make that happen to get anything worth being seen in.

You might want to read this comparison test on the vehicles you are interested in. If you like your current truck, you'll love a 2007.5+ GM HD gasser. The 6-spd trans really makes a large difference in how it pulls plus all the other improvements with GMT900 over GMT800.If looking outside of GM, I recommend Ford's 6.8L V10, skip the 5.4L. 2011 offered the 6.2L which is also great. The Ram I do not like the trans gear ratios compared to Ford/GM 6-spds. But the tests and owner experiences all say it is strong. If you go with gas, find a shorter axle ratio truck. 4.xx instead of 3.73.

Go find a 2006-2007 classic Duramax LBZ engine with 6 speed Allison setup. The 2007.5's(newer body style) "UP TO" trucks with DEF are not the best animals on the farm. The models noted above were as good as it gets, until you jump forward to the trucks with (D)iesel (E)xhaust (F)luid emissions systems. May need to put a few more RV bucks(1000's) into the deal!Chris

He's going to have to add a whole bunch more money than 15K to the pot if he wants an LBZ. I just looked mine up and it's worth 26K as it sits. :E

I talked to a buddy of mine who is an expert on the LBZ. If it is authentic I can give you like $2.00.

Keep in mind I never know who is going to walk through that door and I may have to set on it for a few months.

Now if you had a vintage Les Paul to throw in with it I could give you $10 cash, and an additional $5 of in store credit.

Went from an 02 Chevy 6.0hd to my current 09 gmc 2500hd 6.0 with 6 speed trans, got the SLT package. Best truck I have ever owned, world of difference between the old and the newer. Mostly because of the increase in HP and TQ and of course the 6 speed.... I know that it's newer but the 07-5 and up are much more comfortable in my opinion. If I lost this truck tomorrow would I buy another just like it? You betcha....

:H Just a simple dropdown for a F250 returned a dollar amount for me. Like I said "I never used it " just noticed it most every day. I just go to Dave Smith personally, and I think it's getting close to that time again :B

There's nothing 2010 or newer in my local area that you can find for $15k + the trade value of your current truck.

I have towed our 5er over 25000 miles with the truck in the signature with 3.73 gears. If money was no object, I would go for the 6.7 Dodge Gasser with the MDS system. Good luck in your venture.

$15 is a good down payment.

If the current TV is running good you should be able to add leather and seat warmers for under $3,000.

Look through cars.com, autotrader.com, eBay, and craigslist for the years and mileage you're interested in. This will give you the price perspective you are looking for. For feedback on certain trucks you're interested in, come back here to have them evaluated.
