Maybe you could post from the article where it said that?
Third paragraph, fourth sentence.
"Taking the speculation a step further, it’s likely the 4.8L could be the basis for a future Mustang engine, either with or without forced induction."
So yes, it does mention forced induction.

A turbo engine under load would have terrible fuel mileage, much better off with a diesel
Well duh, a diesel gets better fuel mileage, but Ford(or any other manufacturer) doesn't put a gas engine in a 3/4 and 1 ton to compete with a diesel. They do it to give people options for those that want an HD/SD, but not a diesel. So comparing this to a diesel is just idiotic. For its purpose, an iron block twin turbocharged 4.8L making 450 hp and 550 ln-ft at a low 2,500 rpm would be a good gas tow engine power wise. Also, just as the 3.5L Ecoboost gets better fuel economy unloaded and pulling a trailer than most of the 5.xL V8 offerings(per PUTC and Canadian Truck King Challenge), I have no doubts a 4.8L would do just the same for all the 6.xL HD/SD gas engines.
