U turns on the interstates are illegal anyhow. We just go to the next exit and get back on in the opposite direction if we need to. We've run into that scenario when the campground is on the frontage road in the opposite direction. Sometimes a grass median on a divided state highway creates the same scenario but a U-turn is legal at the next intersection or left turn lane and makes sense to go back to an entrance in the opposite direction. By U-turn I mean forward motion with steering wheels turned all the way. No backing involved.
