My first pick-up was a 1985 Chevy S-10. It had an AM radio... that's it! No other electronics. It had rubber floors, no air conditioning, no power windows, no power seats, no cruise control, no time delayed windshield wipers, no automatic transmission (yes, it was a manual 4 speed with 1 reverse), and seats were artificial leather. It did come with a tail gate and 4 tires however. To clean the interior, I'd park it sideways on a hill, get the garden hose, open both door, stand up hill and just spray the inside and let the water and dirt roll out the other door. Take a towel and dry off the dash board, the floor would dry itself in time. I paid $5000 for it brand new and drove it for 12 years until the engine literally just fell apart in the middle of an intersection! I pushed it into a parking lot and sold it to a junk yard, who paid me $100 and they towed it away! At least they got a clear title!
I paid $54,000 for my current 2014 Chevy Duly Diesel 3500 Silverado with Duramax and all that... It has all the bells and whistles, except power mirrors that move in and out and no heated seats. But the mirrors on both sides are heated and defrost ice! I think it's got everything else imaginable, including internet service!
If I had my choice of driving one or the other today? I'd take the $54,000 model! I'm spoiled now!
