Ugh cracked dash

Ok guys, what an interesting day. Well I drove my 09 HD today and everything was fine. Truck has only 80k on it and I really take care of it. Anyway after getting back home I decided to clean the inside out. I was in the house for a short while and came out and found a large crack in the dash on the drivers side..... I know it wasn't there when I pulled up to the house btw....Stunned, anyway I googled it up and appearently it's a common issue.... So has anybody here had this issue with there 2007 and up GM trucks? From what I read GM is not doing anything to help out and know it's a common issue but about 1100. To replace... Ouch.... All for a truck that believe me is treated very well.... Anybody repaired there's? If how how? I want it to look good not just rigged as being fixed. Thanks in advanced guys.
Kris

For the record... My 69 C10 has the original dash and it's not cracked....just saying....
  • Our 2010 Suburban has a cracked dash in 2 places. Ordered a dash mat on eBay. Looks tacky but it covers it.
  • Don't have a repair idea. But for those whose dash hasn't cracked yet. I can suggest windshield shades. Keep the sun off of it while parked, and it will last MUCH longer
  • The dash on our 2008 Suburban cracked on the drivers side. I'm not planning on replacing it.

Hopefully someone has a simple (cheap) repair. :)
  • I'd check with an upholstery and vinyl repair shop. Many years ago I worked near a guy who did this on restaurant vinyl seats. They have several types of materials as well as molds to match the 'grain' of the vinyl.

Also, I use a Dashmat from day one with my truck. It's never indoors, left parked in the sun as I have no shade trees. It's an '06 and the dash is perfect under it's mat.
