uncomfortable travel trailer couch

I wanted to post a picture, but am not able to, anyway...as I said in my original post...the couch is one piece sewn together....the bottom cushions are not removable, they are sewn together....no zippers..the back cushions are sewn together as well....the entire couch is sewn together, can not remove cushions or lift them up to insert anything under them...they are NOT removable....so with that said....can only take them apart and resew....but wouldn't dare do that. slip covers can not be applied....all one piece...google forest river flagstaff 25ks and click on image icon under google search bar....that will take you to pics of the couch that sits in front of the murphy bed....looks like a normal couch, jack knife couch....BUT....cushions can not be removed....ALL SEWN TOGETHER AS ONE PIECE....so thanks all for the solutions...but the only thing I can do is maybe place a foam piece on top of the seat cushions and go from there. Would love to have recliners or swivel chairs but that will not work either as they have to be able to recline FLAT for wall bed to lay over them and there is storage for the trailer underneath...so they would be in a hole ...reason for jack knife couch. Hope this clears it all up...and THANKS TO ALL AGAIN, appreciate the suggestions and assistance. :)

A quick and easy solution is to add a memory foam topper designed for a mattress- you may have to cut it. Fasten with diaper pins, and add a throw or slip cover also attached with diaper pins.

We bought a bunkhouse to use as "guest quarters" on an adjacent seasonal site. As it is smaller and easier to heat, we use it in the off season. Great deal on Craigslist, but the jack knife couch was not very comfy. Then, we were in Big Lots and saw something like this (cheaper and a perfect match for the camper) - http://www.target.com/p/braided-pouf-peach-cheek-pillowfort/-/A-51612208 - ahhhh....my recliner!

So, now I can sit on the couch in comfort during the winter months!

Take a look underneath and see if the area is finished. In our first fiver, a Terry, the floor was carpeted and the wall finished under and behind the couch. We took it out and replaced it with two small LazyBoy recliners. Looked better and WAY more comfortable!

garyemunson, if you don't plan to ever use the sleeper function it is easy enough to place a shim under the front of the frame to give a slight tilt back.

I am going to take mine out completely and build a new seater with good foam and a wood frame. Not a difficult job.

The horrible and uncomfortable couch in our last trailer forced us to buy a new trailer with rear living and 2 recliners....

The couch in our Winnebago isn't the most comfortable thing, either. Part of the problem (I think) is the angle of the seatback and the front-to-back 'tilt' of the seat cushion are not really right. As it is a jackknife sleeper, I've hesitated trying to change those things but your post may just have prodded me to spend some time seeing if I can alter the angles without breaking something.

Just looked at a quick no audio vid of the Forest River Murphy bed on you tube.
The stitching CAN be removed and re-stitched after a change to a higher density foam is made and/or add more structure in the form of webbing/wood/dust cover/coils.

Not sure whether the same fabric can be used again in the same manner but certainly a talented upholsterer can
install zippers (makes the covers easier to clean) and/or switch out the fabric or incorporate a new one to the existing in an tasteful way.

The suggestion of a marine specialist is a good'un :).
