Under Bumper Storage shelf

Not liking the fact that my leveling blocks took up valuable storage space (under the dinette) and not wanting to put them inside the camper or truck, I came up with this variation for storage. I'd seen other ideas to mount the blocks on the bumper which is easy to access, but I wanted to keep that area clear as I hang my BBQ in that area and also needed a place to carry my expandable sewer hose support. The shelf I designed is made from 1" angle iron with an expanded metal floor. 1/8" steel straps hold it from the bumper support and the bumper/septic hose storage on my Arctic Fox 996. It stays attached to the camper, doesn't decrease ground clearance nor does it get in the way while loading/unloading the rig. I've yet to take it on a road trip, but so far so good and it keeps those dirty leveling blocks outside where they belong!

That's a great idea. I have been toying with putting a rack off of the receiver and under that empty area on my rig.

Thanks. I've looked at that wasted space area since we got our AF and toyed with enclosed tool type boxes, tubes, etc.... Access was the main problem, with the side being the logical point to get items in/out and couldn't find a box that had an end door with the right dimensions.
Thank you for your service to our country. I had a low lottery number, but thought I might end up going anyway.

Good idea, but aren't you going to loose stuff on the road this way? Or is it still incomplete at this moment?

Guess I should've put the hold down bolts in for the picture. I noted the details in the third post from the top, but will post up one when I finish the cable idea I noted.

Really lloks good but a question are you going to add something to keep the blocks or the slinky support from bouncing out as you drive down the road. Might have to look at something like that myself.

Yep, have 11" x 1/4-20 bolts secured with wing nuts and drilled to accept a hairpin type clip to keep the wing nut from coming loose. Planning on running a small cable through the hairpin clips to keep track of them. A little JB weld on a fender washer keeps it attached to the bolt head so less to juggle and keep track of when taking the blocks out.
