unlevel camper on truck

I bought my rig used in May of this year. I have a 2003 Ford F450 with a custom made aluminum flatbed with aluminum storage boxes down the side, and a 2008 990 Arctic Fox camper. We volunteered at a State Park here in Texas for the summer and pulled out from under the camper to use the truck. When we pulled it off there was a wedge cut from a 2x4 set at the very back. When I put the camper back on the left side of the camper set on the truck with about a 2 inch clearance on the boxes, but the right side set low and rubbed the box on the back side with out the wedge under it sets fine with t. I just worry about the camper being twisted and a wedge under just one corner.
  • My 2003 1150 is exactly the same as yours on the generator corner. I have been to the factory and they tore it apart and it didn't have any damage. It has been very frustrating due to I know a lot more now than when I purchased it almost 9 years ago and would have spotted it. My fear is I won't be able to sell it when that time comes. Even the factory didn't have any grand ideas, don't get me wrong they were great and didn't charge me a dime while I was up there with a camper that was way out of warranty I just think it is a build issue but solving it is a mystery. Please keep us posted if you find anything on yours that would help.
  • The only reason to have a wedge there is if something is tweaked. My guess would be bed damage or poor bed construction.
  • Something is bent or twisted. No way would I want a wedge shoved under one corner of the TC. Its bound to cause damage to the TC eventually.
  • If a camper that size were twisted it should straighten back out when loaded on to a flat deck.

Either the structure on that side has collapsed or the wing above is sagging.

You need to pull the camper off and take a good long look and figure out what's wrong there.
  • Is this mismatch of clearance just at the top of the boxes (under side of the camper overhang on each side) or did you look at the floor (the bottom) of the camper (the surface that sits on the truck bed) and see a gap at one corner, where it wasn't resting on the truck bed?

(your situation needs more clarification so we can better understand what's going on, pictures would help too)
